SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION 

Tennessee State University has a long rich history of graduating successful individuals dating back to its inception in 1912. Jackson, Tennessee is home to many TSU graduates who have made, and who are continuing to make, a positive contribution to our region and to the world. We believe that students who attend TSU have a greater sense of belonging because of various tangible and intangible opportunities that are provided. The Jackson Chapter is deeply committed to helping students from Jackson-Madison County who want to obtain a TSU education and we strive to stimulate interest among the best students as candidates for admission.

 

Local Scholarship

 

Each spring we offer the Fannie B. Dobbins $1,500 Academic Scholarship, and two $1,000 Academic Scholarships to graduating seniors from Jackson-Madison County Schools who have been accepted to the university.

 

Annual Application Announcement

​

March 1st is the opening date to make applications for the graduating senior scholarships. The deadline for submission is April 1st. Scholarship winners will be announced by May 1st. 

Application packets can also be obtained from school counselors or on this website. All scholarship application packets must be completed and received or postmarked (if mailed) by 11:59 P.M. (CST) April 1st.

TSU Foundation Administered Scholarship for Upperclassmen

 

Jackson Tennessee Alumni Chapter’s Endowed Scholarship

​

In 2018, The Jackson Tennessee Alumni Chapter established an Endowed Scholarship that is administered through the TSU Foundation.  This endowment will serve upperclassmen generations to come by assuring that students who need financial assistance will have a resource available.

​

Guidelines for the endowed scholarships have been established by our Chapter and will be awarded during the spring semester of each year.  The amount of each award will be based on the productivity of the endowment’s investments.

​

University Criteria: Scholarships are to be awarded to full-time undergraduate students based on academic merit as determined by the Program Administrator and/or financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.

 

Donor Specified Criteria:

Jackson Tennessee Chapter Recommended Guidelines:

 

1. Student must have graduated from a high school in Jackson-Madison County Tennessee and be a permanent resident of this location while attending the university.

2.  Student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior.

3.  Student must have a minimum 2.75 GPA. 

4.  Preference should be given to students with financial need.
